Sebastes goodei

Description

General: A large fish, may have a light-colored body with a brown pattern (vs. images in Love, et al.). Juveniles may look like shortbellies (S. jordani). Could be confused with boccacio (S. paucispinus), but have a much smaller mouth. Look for the two front colored bars angled toward the head.

Size: to 59 cm

Published depth range: Shallow, less than 491 m.

Ocean range (global): British Columbia to southern Baja.

Habitat description: Benthic.
