Octopus californicus

Description

Size: Body to 14 cm, arms to 30 cm.

General: Muscular, tan-orange, large eyes (which look orange on video), deep webs (making the arms appear short compared to O. rubescens), raised patches/papillae may be seen over body and arms.



Geographic Information

Ocean range (global): Gulf of Alaska to Baja Califonia, and possibly Sea of Japan, Russia.

Published depth range: 100 - 900 m

Habitat description: Benthic.
