Desmophyllum dianthus

Author: Esper, 1794

Description

General: Corallum ceratoid, often flaring at calice (trumpet-shaped), attached through a robust pedicel. Corallum light brown or grey.

Size: 60 x 40 mm in calicular diameter and 50 mm in height, with a pedicel diameter of 20 mm.

Published depth range: 33 - 2248 m

Ocean range (global): Cosmopolitan.

Habitat description: Benthic: rock outcrops, volcanic talus, boulders, and cobbles.
