Size:
Up to 8 cm, usually less than 3 cm off West Coast.
General:
Broad, muscular swimming wings attached narrowly at the anterior quarter of the body. Diet consists solely of the thecosome Limacina.

Ocean range (global):
Cosmopolitan in cold and temperate oceanic waters.
Published depth range:
Up to 600 m.
