Chionoecetes tanneri

Description

General: Orange to orange-red in coloration. Interspace between brachial regions is deep, brachial region extends beyond the lateral margin. Two spines at the intersection of the branchial ridges.



Geographic Information

Habitat description: Benthic, soft sediment.

Ocean range (global): Pacific Ocean, Bering Sea to Mexico border. Note that the "Tanner" crab (C. bairdi) has a more northern distribution (Bering Sea to Oregon).

Published depth range: 53 - 1900 m



Additional Information

Diet: Likely cannabilistic.
